Bath is approx 40-45 minutes' drive to the south west, and Bristol about the same, with the airport another 10-15 minutes to the south. The town has very good amenities: two good restaurants (Oldstone and Wild Garlic), The Britannia (gastropub staying open on Sun and Mon evenings), cafes, a pizzeria plus Indian and Chinese take-aways, and a pub with a microbrewery. Nearby are more excellent gastropubs, such as Tipputs, The Old Fleece and The Ram, and the renowned and award-winning Calcot Conservatory Restaurant, Spa and Gumstool Inn. There is a Somerfield supermarket and a Tesco Express within walking distance as well as numerous speciality shops and boutiques. Stroud is 10 minutes' drive away and has all the major supermarkets (Waitrose, Sainsbury's, etc). For major shopping all the high street names can be found at the award-winning Cribb's Causeway Mall, less than 45 minutes away on the M5 motorway.
